RichMix

We went for a trip to RickMix were there was a presentation call 'From MTV to YouTube: Studying Music Video'

It started off with a presentation by Pete Fraser the Cheif Examiner for OCR A Level Media Studies. He took us through the history of the music video, codes and conventions and top tips for making your own pop promo.

Len Lye - Colourbox



This was the first time music was put to images. Len Lye cut different film and changed it according to the music.

In this you can see the invetion of the scopitone. The scopitone is like a jukebox were you can pay to watch music videos. This was very popular when souldier first came back from war and in these times showing your legs was seen as very disrespectful which caused alot of response from communities.

This video shows how pervious songs have been changed in time to suit the newer geniration but still has its originality.

Michael Jackson was the first black person to be shown on mtv and with this 14 minute music video. The release was like a film premiere and the music video it self is like a film . It was directed and written by John Landis who also directed comeing to America, 'An American Werewolf In London' and many more.
